International workshop to focus on CIGS thin-film solar modules

Global demand for photovoltaic systems is rising sharply. CIGS thin-film modules have become a hot topic for the solar industry. International experts will convene in Stuttgart (Germany) on May 30, 2017, at the annual IW-CIGSTech workshop to discuss past and potential future technical and industrial advances in this solar technology. The Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research (ZSW) and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) are hosting the workshop, which caters to scientists, engineers and industry specialists.

Kalyon Enerji and Hanwha Q CELLS awarded 1 GW solar PV project in Turkey

A joint venture formed by Kalyon Enerji (Istanbul, Turkey) and Hanwha Q CELLS (Seoul, South Korea) on March 20th,2017 won the tender to build a 1.000 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in the Karapınar region in Turkey with the bid of USD 0.07 cent per kWh of solar power, the International Solar Energy Society’s Turkey Division (GUNDER) reports.

Phoenix Solar regains full control over Asia/Pacific operations from minority shareholders in Singapore

Phoenix Solar AG (Sulzemoos, Germany) has acquired the outstanding minority shares in its Singapore based subsidiary Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd., the company announced on March 21st, 2017. Dominion announces two large-scale solar PV projects in South Carolina

Dominion (Richmond, Va., U.S.) on March 20, 2017 announced that it plans to construct, own and operate 81 megawatts of solar generating capacity in Jasper County, S.C. Two projects – a 71.4-megawatt facility that would be South Carolina's largest and a 10-megawatt array – are expected to enter service in 2017.
